Random Craft Projects

Crafty things that I have done around the house!

I bought an old frame at Goodwill- painted it and then added some burlap!
A friend wanted a candle holder with some chevron and her initial!

Loving some chevron!

Prayer Board
I always struggle with remembering who I want to pray for , so I decided to help that loss of memory!
I see the names periodically throughout the day and can pray throughout the day or in a longer prayer at night.

This door was kind of yellowish to begin with.

We got the door from Mark's dad. We painted, stressed it, added a door knob and a cross hook from Hobby Lobby. It sits is my craft room and  I hang different wreaths on it!

This is another door from Mark's dad. It had a glass pane that I painted over with chalkboard paint. We also painted this door, stressed it and added a knob from Hobby Lobby. The second picture is what it has evolved into. I stenciled our last name across the top. Added a small nail, I keep a circle of grapevine on it and then change out what hangs in the middle by the season.

This was an oar brought from the old house. It was in the boys "lodgy" bathroom. Dustin wanted a camo/fishing room, so using my Silhouette Cameo, I made vinyl letters for the message!

This was an early project of mine. I covered a Christmas tin with fabric and added the crazy trim and beads, then glued it to a candlestick and it is a headband holder and can also hold rings and such on the top!

This was the matching piece that I made for Megan. It is an old frame that I painted and stressed, tin (covered in fabric) and then magnets glued to the back of her makeup.

After I made Megan her headband holder and makeup board, I made one for myself!

When Mark and I were creating "our" bedroom. I needed something for the walls. I bought keys from the scrapbook aisle and a clearance frame from Michael's. I printed "You hold the key to my heart!" and then arranged the keys. SO EASY!

I tried my hand at "blinging" things! I wore this hat, but not real proud of it!
I still think some special tools/equipment is better than just an iron.

This project of making Halloween coasters(using napkins) turned into so much more! I didn't like how the paper napkins turned out on the tiles, so I graduated to scrapbook paper and some stickers. These few Halloween coasters (for teachers), led me to making over 240 for year round holidays, etc. for the boys' teachers, family and friends! Mark was my biggest cheerleader during this as it consumed our bedroom!

This is an old window that I knocked the glass out, chalkboard painted a thin board and use it in different ways depending on the need!

I needed some decorations for our bedroom, so I printed one of our pictures in black and white at the copy store, cut it in 1/4's and mod podged it to the glass in this old window.

Using windows, once again, I painted and broke out the glass in three of the window panes. I put chicken wire on the left (stapled to the back with a staple gun) and used small clothespins that I painted white to post pictures. I then, painted a smaller frame and put it in the top right opening. In the bottom right pane, I cut vinyl letters from my Silhouette Cameo and attached them to scrapbook paper and placed behind the glass. We use a dry erase marker to leave little notes about why we love each other!

I used this window and painted, stressed it, added chicken wire and use little clothespins to
hold photos over my desk at school!

I needed some hiegth and "something" on top of my tv armoire in the "off seasons," so I made an arrangement using peacock feathers to incorporate them with the peacock feather wreath that my friends gave me!

I was storing these windows in my shed, but not sure what to do with them. They were taking up space. but I didn't want to get rid of them. I gave a large one to my school and then I came up with the idea to "store" them on the top of my hutch in the entry way. It was bare and needed something too!

When we decided to move we talked about a mud room. We (probably more me) REALLY wanted a room to come into. The room to collect the mail, backpacks and all the extra STUFF that gets dumped in the kitchen! Well............. we didn't get our mud room, but we created a space in place of it. We found an old barn wood cubby to store all of the shoes. Mark's dad gave us an old church pew that he had shortened and Mark had most of the accessories!! The wreath on the right, I made to hang on the door (not sure why it has been moved off)

When we got the bench, it was yellowish. We washed it and then painted it black and stressed it. It's a great perch to sit and put your shoes on!

This was a sign that I made my dad for Christmas. He is THE BEST and the saying is SO true!
(Block of wood, scrapbook paper, mod-podge, Silhouette Cameo for letters, paint and burlap)

My grandmother sang "You are my sunshine" to me as a little girl. So, for Christmas, I painted it on canvas.
Painting is NOT my most favorite and I am not very good at it. But, she has it in her living room and can see it everyday from her chair! Goal accomplished!

I didn't want that "pale" wood color of a knife block, so I painted and stressed it.
Mark thinks that it is CRAZY, but I put a black "M" on the front because it is subtle. He just thinks, why even put it there if you can't see it! Whatever!

Class Basket that I made for the 1st grade class for Auction for our school's Rodeo.
It was a "Baking/Cooking" Basket with a cookbook of each child's favorite recipe and a picture of them in an apron and chef's hat!  It was fun and I surprised myself how it turned out!

For Christmas, I made clipboards for LOTS of people. For some in the family, I made them with the boy's pictures. For ALL of the teachers and administration, I made decorated clipboards on the front and back with scrapbook paper, mod-podge and then tied several ribbons on the front clip. Most of them turned out pretty cute.

For Christmas 2011, I made all of the "extra" teachers Cinnamon Almonds! I think it was a nice little gesture to say we haven't forgotten you and we appreciate you! I thought they tasted great!

My Aunt had given me a cross nail for a candle and I needed to work some burlap into my Christmas decorations, so I combined the two and put this candle in the middle of a little red berry wreath that I found at the Thrift Shop.

Now this is CRAZY, but I did it! I labeled parts of my fridge. In hopes that when others put things up or are looking for items, it gets where it needs to. Also, the "Lunchbox Food" is NOT a snacking drawer- this is for when you have to take a LUNCHBOX! HAHA!!

When we moved to our new house, the boys each had a camo room. One was Hunting Camo and the other was Wetlands/Fishing Camo...so, of course they needed some camo names on the wall. The letters were from Hobby Lobby and I used Real Tree scrapbook paper and mod-modge!

As a party favor for one of the boy's birthday parties, I raided the lego bucket, peeled of stickers on the bottles, added stickers for each child's name- unique and easy! (Thanks again Pinterest)

I used a big chunky frame from Hobby Lobby, had a thin piece of metal cut and then used my Silhouette Cameo to make an "M" stencil and then painted it on to some material. I use this in the kitchen to hang the lunch menu for school on or whatever else I need to keep up with for the moment!

When we moved to our new house, Dustin needed a way to store his toys a little better than we did at the old house (wooden shelves and white plastic dishpans with labels- ha!) So, I went and got cubby shelves from Target and the bins, but I needed a more creative way to label them. I bought the individual plastic name tag/lamination things at Wal-Mart, printed a picture and typed out what was in the cubby on kraft paper, punched a hole and attached it with twine.

The oldest son needed some type of toy storage, but not quite as much as little brother. So, I bought Rubbermaid totes, then I took Kraft paper, printed labels for the tubs and then burned the edges like an old map or kind of piratey! Then, I just mod-podged them on!

This little diddly was inspired from Stormy at school. She had one made with school colors and of course, I went for burlap! It sits on the windowsill by bathtub!

I hated looking at our garage fridge! Rust from the water dispenser was yuck, so I painted it with chalkboard paint and made a little memo board. Still not just beautiful, but for a garage fridge, it will do just fine!
